Umesh Yadav, the new star of Indian cricket

Sports Desk: Umesh Yadav is a rising star of Indian cricket who has the potential of becoming India's top bowler in coming years. Yadav has been praised by many cricket pundits who believe that Yadav is the only genuine quick bowler that India has.

Yadav, who was selected for the second warm-up game against Australia scalped 5 wickets in just 5 overs to rock the Australian top order and began a collapse that was hard for the Aussies to stop who lost all wickets for a paltry score of 65. Yadav's performance was ably supported by Ishant Sharma who claimed 3 wickets in his 5 overs. The brilliant performance of Indian bowlers was preceded by a sensational knock of 146 by Dinesh Karthik who remained not-out at the end of the innings.

Yadav who got married recently last month had been selected by the Indian selectors for the Champions Trophy to be played in England from 6 June to 23 June. Interestingly Yadav was ignored for the first warm-up game against Sri Lanka when the Indian bowlers were taken to cleaners by the Sri Lankan batsmen who put up a mammoth total of 333 on the board.

Yadav, who was termed as the most talented bowler by Ashish Nehra had a decent IPL outing as he claimed 16 wickets in 16 matches at an average of 31.5 and an economy rate of 8.78. Yadav gave his best IPL performance in this edition of the IPL when he claimed 4/24 against Rajasthan Royals but this season was certainly not the best season for him as he had a better average and economy rate in the previous edition.

With Champions Trophy about to begin, Yadav who has showcased his talent in the warm-up game against Australia would be hoping to lift the Indian bowling unit to its full potential.
