Tennis star Mahesh Bhupati turns 39 on Friday. Born in Chennai and an
alumnus of University of Mississippi, Bhupati’s 18-year long
international career has seen him amass a cache of Grand Slam doubles
trophies.
Partnering with Leander Paes, the ‘Indian Express’ won 4 Grand Slam titles between 1995 and 2006.
Though they could never win Australian Open, they reached the finals thrice- a world record on its own.
Former world number one, the Lee-Hesh combine also holds the unique
distinction of becoming the first pair of the Open Era to reach the
finals of all four Grand Slam events.

won the 1997 French Open in mixed-doubles category.

Long before Lara Dutta came into his life, Mahesh Bhupati had a Bollywood connection, going by the name of Amitabh Bachchan.
He met the matinee idol in 1990s during a charity game.
Bhupati had partnered Bachchan against Leander Paes and Naseeruddin Shah.
