IPL spot-fixing: Sreesanth keeping fasts and praying in jail as Vindu Dara Singh and Meiyappan get bail

New Delhi: While Vindu Dara Singh and Gurunath Meiyappan got bail on Tuesday, ‘trembling with fear’ Sreesanth is keeping fasts and praying in the jail for his bail. Vindu and Meiyappan will be sent to the Arthur Road Jail when the orders will reach the jail. It can a couple of hours as some formalities are still pending.

Apart from them, two to three other bookies are scheduled to get released on bail on Tuesday. All the people released on bail were asked to deposit Rs. 25,000 each for the bail. They are not allowed to leave the country and will have to report to the Crime Branch office every alternate day.

According to a jail official in Tihar, Sreesanth is not shaving his beard and is having only one meal per day – which is dal and two chapatis. Denying recent reports, the spokesperson of the jail Sunil Gupta said that Sreesanth is not teaching cricket to anyone in the jail.

According to sources in the jail, Sreesanth is not drinking the water given to him in the cell. He is buying the packaged water from the jail canteen. Sreesanth is telling the prisoners that he is innocent. Earlier, he had complaint of the heat inside the cell and had demanded to be allowed to take bathe twice a day.

Meanwhile, many prisoners are maintaining distance from the tainted cricketer, saying that he has done a wrong thing and should be punished.

The player is kept in Jail number 1 in Tihar and he has been given special permission to carry a bed sheet.

Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila were arrested last month after their names surfaced in the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scam.
