Vijeta's father SP
Pendharkar was a wing commander in the army whereas her mother was a
dietician. After retirement, SP Pendharkar settled in Nagpur along with
his family.
Vijeta was the youngest
member in her family and since the very beginning has followed a simple
lifestyle. She loved studying and completed her graduation from Shri
Shivaji Science College.
Vijeta's father stayed in
Bangalore for 3 years between 1968 and 1971. It was during this time
that the two families came in contact with each other.
Both the families came
close during this time and Rahul and Vijeta developed a close
friendship. It was the Dravid family that put forward the marriage
proposal which was readily accepted by Vijeta's family.
Rahul and Vijeta tied the knot on 4 May 2003. They have two sons, Samit and Anvay.
Vijeta's presence
proved lucky for Dravid as between his marriage and his first
anniversary, he averaged 95 in Test cricket and 41.77 in ODIs.
After his first son's birth and before his first birthday, Dravid again had a healthy average of 62 in Tests and 44 in ODIs.
Rahul Dravid's second
son's birth once again got him going as after his birth and before his
first birthday Dravid had a staggering average of 95.33 in Tests.
