Sports Desk: New Zealand beat England in the 2nd ODI at The Rose Bowl, Southampton as Martin Guptill slammed an unbeaten 189 off just 155 balls. Guptill who has been an integral part of the New Zealand ODI side is known for his fielding more than his batting.
Guptill is known for his fielding abilities and is one of the best Kiwi fielders, but not many people are aware that Guptill who has such great reflexes has only 2 toes in his left foot. But Guptill has never let this affect his performance on the field.

Martin Guptill has been a brilliant batsman since his school days. When he was 13 years old, his brother accidently hit him with a forklift truck due to which he lost 3 of his toes. His toes had to be removed after doctors failed to fix his toes with surgery.

Stephen Fleming, who was leading the New Zealand side during that time, went to the hospital to check on Guptill. It is a coincidence that both Guptill and Fleming have scored centuries on debut.

Guptill has never let his loss affect his game. He is one of the best fielders in the side and an innovative batsman.
Guptill has played 31 Test and has scored 1718 runs. He has also played 71 ODIs scoring 1475 runs.
