ongoing Confederations Cup in Brazil is approaching its business end,
and Croatia, slotted in Group A, has emerged as one of the major forces
to qualify for World Cup, 2015, along with Belgium.
However, an incident that occurred in 2009, has done significant
damage to the reputation of Croatian football in particular, and
football, as a sport, in particular.
We’re talking of a sensational sex scandal that surfaced in 2009,
wherein a Croatian footballer had sex in the football ground to realize
one of his long-standing fetish.
We are discussing
Croatian defender Dino Drpic. A product of Dinamo Zagreb Academy, Drpić
turned professional in 2000 and went on to spend nine years with the
club.
Dino married Playboy
model, singer and writer Nives Celzius after long courtship.
Incidentally, it was Celzius who revealed Dino’s indiscretion.
In her book, The Naked
Truth, Celzius has revealed that after a match in Dinamo’s home stadium
Maksimir Stadium, Dino had sex with her in the stadium itself.
Celzius goes on to
explain that after the match, Dino convinced the ground staff to leave
some light switched on, and the two had sex smack on the football pitch.
According to Celzius, this was Dinio’s long standing fantasy.
The revelation proved way too costly for Dino, as the club showed him the door for trespassing ground rules.
