IN PICS: India versus Pakistan in ‘watershed’ clash

IN PICS: India versus Pakistan in ‘watershed’ clash
Birmingham: Sunil Gavaskar was spot-on when he recently commented that India versus Pakistan contests are never a dead rubber. The boisterous crowd that poured in looked adamant to support the Indian legend, when, in an unfortunate anti-climax, rains came calling.
However, true to its nature, the brief contest that was possible was not bereft of its share of excitement. While India struck early- getting opener Nasir Jamshed in third over- Pakistan slowly clawed back in the game with a 46-run stand between Kamran Akmal and Mohammad Hafeez.
Just after the rains first disrupted the game, Pakistan lost Hafeez, thanks to a brilliant catch by Dhoni behind the stumps.
Captain Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq then stitched an unbeaten partnership of 14 runs before rains returned.
We bring you images from Ground Zero, where among others, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar was in attendance to shout out loud for Team India.
