The German has the most number of Grand Slam singles title (22) to her name (male or female) winning seven Wimbledon titles (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1996). She also holds the open era record for finishing as the year-end World No. 1 the most times, having done so on eight occasions.
