Rajasthan Royals' owner Raj Kundra admits to betting in IPL; did Shilpa Shetty know?

New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals owner Raj Kundra has admitted placing bets in the IPL matches, Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said in a press conference.
According to Neeraj Kumar, "Raj Kundra placed huge sums on betting during IPL. He also lost a lot of money on betting through his friend and bookie Umesh Goenka."
After the revelation by Delhi Police commissioner, Raj Kundra may be arrested anytime soon.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals Raj Kundra surrendered his passport to Delhi Police in the IPL spot-fixing scandal, according to TV reports on Thursday. He has been told not to leave the country.
Earlier, the Delhi Police was suspicious of Rajasthan Royals’ owner Raj Kundra and his friend Umesh Goenka in the ongoing IPL-fixing and betting scandal involving S Sreesanth and two other cricketers.
Raj Kundra was questioned for almost 12 hours on Wednesday to ascertain if he was betting during IPL matches. Even though he was allowed to go after questioning on Wednesday, he could be charged with the betting offence if Delhi Police establishes direct connection with bookies.
Raj Kundra came under police radar during the interrogation of his friend Umesh Goenka who allegedly extracted information from RR players about strategy, team composition, pitch situation and even things like the possible winner of the match.
Umesh Goenka is a close friend of Kundra and business partner. That is why he had access to all the Rajasthan Royals players and management, revealed Rajasthan Royals player Siddharath Trevedi.
Trevedi even said that Umesh Goenka asked details of some matches from him also.
Close to the team, a person’s getting details from players obviously raises suspicion for a possible match fixing, spot fixing or even betting.
