debut at Lords to the way he pulverised left arm spinners around the
world, Sourav Ganguly’s story has aristocracy written all over it.
Off the field, there’s no letting up on the princely charm either,
with the West Bengal government naming an entire sector as Sourav Hosing
Complex. It’s here that the Prince of Calcutta resides.
As he turns 40 today, we give you a sneak-peek in Dada’s luxurious lifestyle:
Sourav Ganguly’s family
is among the five richest families of Kolkata. Ganguly’s stay in joint
family comprising of about 50 people in a house that boasts of 48 rooms
and 32 cars.
Like everyone in Bengal,
Ganguly was initially attracted to football. It was his elder brother
Snehasish who introduced him to cricket. Sourav was in fact selected in
Bengal Ranji team at the expense of his elder brother.
Noticing Sourav’s talent, Snehasish got a cricket pitch made in the house!
Owing to his affluent lifestyle, Sourav was often accused of an elitist mindset.
Rumours have it that during his days in school cricket, he refused to carry drinks for his team.
